“This Star Alliance Premium Economy Round The World ticket offers a 29,000 mile limit and with a full 15 stopovers. As long as you are using 8 or 9 of your permitted stopovers this ticket will usually be cheaper than a Build Your Own itinerary.

Not all flight routes operate with a Premium Economy cabin and passengers travel in the Economy Class cabin if no Premium Economy cabin is offered. The key to getting maximum value from a Premium Economy Round The World ticket is choosing a route which offers the maximum number of Premium Economy sectors.”

Decide Where To Start From!

Star Alliance ERWSTAR1 tickets are priced according to the country of departure, even when that ticket is sold in another country. The table shows the relative ERWSTAR1 fare levels from various countries around the world when converted into UK Pounds Sterling (GBP)*.

In many cases it may be worth departing from a country other than your own and purchasing an additional positioning flight to and from the point of depature.

Within North America departing from Canada offers around a 35% saving on departing from either the USA or Mexico. Even after the cost of a positioning flight you should still make a saving.

You would be crazy to purchase a ticket departing from Malaysia when departing from Japan will save around 37% on the base fare.

Commencing your round the world ticket in a country other than your own effectively creates extra stopovers in the country of departure. It can also provide an extra sidetrip if you don’t want your round the world trip to last a full year. For instance if you are from the USA but choose to depart from Canada you could take a positioning flight to Canada, spend a few days then commence your round the world ticket by using the first sector to fly from Canada back to the USA. Spend a few weeks or months back in the USA then commence your round the world trip proper with a flight from the USA to anywhere.
