Global Explorer Tickets
“The Global Explorer ticket is a mileage based ticket which offers 26,000, 29,000, 34,000 and 39,000 mile versions in Economy Class. As well as the core Oneworld airlines these tickets also permit the use of Aer Lingus, Bangkok Airways, Jetstar, Jetstar Japan and WestJet. Aer Lingus offers European flights centred on Dublin as well as trans-Atlantic options from Dublin and Manchester, Bangkok Airways opens up the island of Koh Samui and the inclusion of WestJet allows internal flights within Canada enabling passengers to more easily by-pass the USA should they wish. The inclusion of Jetstar and Jetstar Japan gives access to routes within Australia, New Zealand and Japan which are not covered by Japan Airlines or QANTAS.
As with all Round The World tickets the Global Explorer requires passengers to visit Area 1, Area 2 and Area 3 and permits one (and only one) crossing of the Atlantic and one (and only one) crossing of the Pacific. Additionally Global Explorer tickets have a restriction on the number of stopovers permitted in each region. This is usually two on 26,000 mile tickets and four on all others. On all tickets only two stopovers are permitted in the region of origin”.

Oneworld Explorer Tickets
“I think what happened is that some bigwigs from all the Oneworld airlines met up a corporate shindig and, very late into the night, decided to see what they could do with a Round The World ticket if they threw all the normal rules out of the window. Then, the next morning, they realised that what they had concocted was a work of absolute genius! So they sent their idea off to the Big Bosses and the big Bosses said Yes!
The Oneworld Explorer does things the Oneworld Explorer’s way!”
The Oneworld Explorer ticket has no concept of mileage. Whilst there some flight restrictions within Australia and the USA, within a continent you can backtrack to your heart’s content. The fare is based purely on the class of travel and the number of continents visited. For travel in Economy Class there are Three, Four, Five or Six Continent tickets.
The Continents are defined as follows:
North America and South America, which make up Area 1.
Europe/Middle East and Africa, which make up Area 2.
Asia and South West Pacific, which make up Area 3.Â
For a full list of which country is in which Continent and Area Click Here.
You must travel around the world with one (and only one) crossing of the Atlantic Ocean and one (and only one) crossing of the Pacific Ocean.
