MRT Trains depart from Changi Airport station located beneath Terminals 2 and 3. Passengers from Terminal 1 need to use the free Skytrain link to access the MRT station.
Changi Airport station is at the end of a three station branch line. You need to change at Expo or Tanah Merah stations to reach the city centre.
Prepurchase a Singapore Tourist Card or buy a ticket from the machines at the station. The single fare is SGD2.20 (as of 1st September 2025).
Buses operate from all terminals to the city but are slower and no cheaper than the MRT.

Getting Around Singapore
Singapore has one of the world’s most efficient and affordable public transport systems.
The MRT train network is the backbone of the system, covering almost every part of the island with several lines, including the North-South, East-West, North-East, Circle, Downtown, and Thomson-East Coast lines. Fares are distance-based, usually ranging between SGD $0.92 and $2.50 per trip. Tap-in and Tap-out with a contactless card or wallet or use your Singapore Tourist Card.
Public buses complement the MRT by reaching neighborhoods and destinations that trains do not. They also run from about 5:30 am until midnight, with some late-night services known as Night Rider buses. Bus fares are also distance-based and often slightly cheaper than MRT rides for short journeys.

Taxis are widely available and offer a convenient alternative to public transport, especially late at night when buses and trains stop running. They can be flagged down on the street. Taxi fares are metered, starting at around SGD $3.90 to $4.80, with additional charges based on distance and time. Surcharges apply during peak hours, late nights, and for specific locations like Changi Airport, the central business district, or Sentosa.
