There’s a new route every day on Franky’s Socials…
A Round The World Ticket is defined as a airline ticket originating and ending in the same city, the same country or in some cases the same region, which includes one (and only one) crossing of the Atlantic Ocean and one (and only one) crossing of the Pacific Ocean.
Tickets are usually offered by two of the big three airline alliances. The Oneworld and Star Alliance groups offer a range of One Year tickets, whilst the SkyTeam alliance stopped offering Round The World Tickets during the Covid pandemic and has never re-introduced them.
With the exception of the Oneworld Explorer ticket, fares are usually calculated on a mileage basis; 26,000, 29,000, 34,000 or 39,000 miles. To minimise your mileage and keep your fare down it is sensible to keep travelling in the same direction and to avoid large backtracks.
The alternative to buying a Round The World ticket is a Build Your Own itinerary where you string together a series of one way tickets on whichever airline offers the best price for each sector. Some Travel Agents may offer their own bespoke itineraries which they have constructed this way.
